Spring/Summer ’16 Collection at a Glance
Giorgio Armani had his models parade along an illuminated path. Grounded, as it were, rather than on the plateau of the catwalk. Which is also how you could interpret his spring/summer collection. Grounded, relaxed, downright casual. But elegant, of course. Nevertheless, this is no unapproachable elegance, just as the casual style is no invitation to cuddle up on the sofa – despite flat shoes, pointed ankle boots and powdery trousers of all lengths. The ’90s power woman has developed her distanced, severe shades of grey into an approachably bright, unexcited integrity. If Armani is right, the battle of the sexes is won – and now we can relax.
Large, dangling discs hung from models’ ears, tonally complementing their clothing. Bulky, asymmetric bangles. Ballerinas with almond-shaped lace so thin that it’s almost as good as going barefoot.
The baby-blue powdery trousers, bound with leather under the knee like knickerbockers, combined with loosely woven flats and a matching bag.
