Spring/Summer ’17 Collection at a Glance
Sarah Burton took her team on a research trip to the Shetland Islands. Up in the far north she found inspiration in the Vikings as well as in the art of Fair Isle knitting, which is part of fashion folklore in the homeland of the famous Shetland wool. Burton has now combined this knitting style with metal-studded leather belts and bustiers as well as delicate lace. Worn with: tartan fabrics, with black and white checks, urbanized and far removed from the classic kilt, yet unmistakeably related to it. And why shouldn’t we navigate the urban city canyons as if we were wandering amid green hills?
Leather bustiers with metal trimmings, shoes decorated with bells and studs or embroidered with folkloric floral patterns.
Paisley dress with leather bustier and puff sleeves. A cross section of everything that makes Sarah Burton’s signature style so unique.
