On 6th December 2015, the day will have finally arrived: "Am Hof 2", the breathtaking building that today houses the Park Hyatt Vienna, will turn 100 and there will be a big birthday party to celebrate. The address has always been considered one of the most historically significant places in the city. Today, the building is better known as the Park Hyatt Vienna. After the Imperial Royal Ministry of War was demolished, the first reinforced concrete building to have a classical façade in Vienna was opened between 1913 and 1915 – as the headquarters of the Escompte-Gesellschaft, a major bank at the time of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. A century later, the building opened its doors as a luxury hotel.
