New Film: Prada’s Nylon Farm

26.09.2018

Prada

A rather unusual video – and one that shouldn’t be taken too seriously. Released by Prada as a four-part series. In it you can see a science fiction world where the label demonstrates how its iconic nylon fabric is made. And where: in the high-tech Nylon Farm – sheep rearing as you’ve never seen it before.

Black nylon sheep live on this farm – a nod to Philip K. Dick’s sci-fi novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Here the plastic fur of these cyborgs is shorn and processed with alternative reality technology and automated machines to create nylon – and then transformed into products like rucksacks.

But even in this perfect system, errors can occur and while they are being repaired, a love story unfolds.

Heritage and innovation

Filmed in the company’s headquarters in Valvigna in Tuscany, the series is intended to symbolize how Prada not only looks to the past but also to the future. Because Miuccia Prada first introduced nylon into her collection back in 1984. The product: a rucksack.
