Interview: Valerian Durina

He walked down the catwalk exclusively for Prada, modelling their spring/summer 2017 collection. Then, straight afterwards, 17-year-old Valerian Durina was booked by photographer Willy Vanderperre for the Prada lookbook. “A dream start to a career in modelling,” raves his agent, Kosmas Pavlos, from the Wiener Models agency. He predicts that Valerian Durina will have a stellar career, rhapsodizes about his unique face and his serenity in front of the camera. Which we witnessed during the key looks shoot for the Goldenes Quartier. We invited the youngster to a quick-fire interview.

Occupation Model
Short-term plan Schule fertig machen
Motto for life No risk, no fun

On a scale from one to ten: how has 2016 been so far?
Nine, because I joined Wiener Models and was asked to walk down catwalk for Prada at Milan Fashion Week. And I did well at school, so I’ll start my last year this September.

What’s the best thing about living in Vienna?
The combination of city and green spaces, the great cultural diversity and the wide range of things to do in your free time.

Which fashion faux pas should be forgiven?
Shorts in high-end places when it’s really hot.

A fashion accessory that you always have with you?
A bracelet that friends gave me.

Mannerschnitten wafers or Sachertorte?

Wiener Konzerthaus (concert hall) or Pratersauna (club)?
I’ve never been to the Pratersauna, so I’m afraid I can’t really judge.

Who is your style role model?
I don’t have a role model. I simply wear what I like. David Beckham is always well-dressed.
