A breath of fresh air is on the cards for your wardrobe this spring – and for your make-up bag, too. Black eyeliner and dark lips are making way for two big trends that were everywhere on this season’s catwalks.
Lots of designers have taken a purist approach to the new season. If Louis Vuitton had their way, we’d all be leaving our houses with almost no make-up at all. But the label isn’t alone: at Prada and Bottega Veneta, too, the rule is: less is more. A beautiful, radiant complexion is of course essential. But you can dispense with your rouge, lipstick, eye make-up – and even mascara. The result? A fresh and youthful face – perfect for the spring.
Purism versus colour
What trend doesn’t have an opposite? This season, the other side of the coin is: colour, colour, colour. Pink eyeshadow dominated at the Valentino show, whereas at Emporio Armani glittery blue make-up around the eyes gave the final touch to several styles. Exaggerated winged eyeliner took centre stage at Miu Miu. Saint Laurent always defines beauty trends with their own cosmetics line YSL. This spring, their bold eyeshadows in blue and yellow are turning heads, while glossy pink lips round it all off.
