Dancing at the Miu Miu Club

Having fun isn’t easy nowadays, according to Miuccia Prada. So to help us out, she presented the next instalment of the Miu Miu Club at the label’s resort collection show in Paris at the beginning of July: the designer has also thrown these exclusive parties in London, Shanghai, LA and Macao. In keeping with their fun-factor focus, Prada chose the flamboyantly furnished Champs-Élysées palace Hôtel de la Païva for their latest show. It was built by the most successful courtesan of her age, Esther Lachmann, in the middle of the 19th century. La Païva, as she herself was known, used to host parties there that were famous for their decadence and debauchery. Today, the palace – which is also known for its sensational yellow onyx staircase – is home to the exclusive Travellers Club. Their antics are rather more tame, including games of chess and sophisticated shop talk.

The party

Rather than using a catwalk, the designer draped her collection on mannequins, dotting them and a few models around the crowds of celebrating guests. Sequin trimmings, metallic effects, feathers and very bright colours make her creations both eccentric and very much party wear. Working their magic at the turntables, the Plastiscines and Paul Simonon were joined by none other than Kate Moss. Her model colleague Amber Valetta, Marc Jacobs, face of Miu Miu Stacy Martin and Gabriel-Kane Day-Lewis, son of Hollywood star Daniel Day-Lewis, were just as happy to dance to Moss’s Motown hits as Game of Thrones actor Sophie Turner, Glee star Dianna Agron and blogger Veronika Heilbrunner.
