Already picked out your dress and jewellery for the holidays? Then it’s time to start thinking about your make-up, to choose the right colour palette and to dare to try something new. Your yuletide make-up can certainly risk being more bright and glittery than normal – go for the wow effect, and take plenty of photos.
Light painting, a pro photography technique, is what inspired Giorgio Armani’s beauty line, in which he expertly toys with light and shade effects for a glamorous and sensational appearance. To achieve the look, Armani puts eyes under the limelight, using gold effects and high-contrast eyeliner.
Parisian life is pink
Lancôme has painted Paris and life in general puff pink: “Pink is the new Happy!” is the new colour palettes’ motto. Pink and copper-coloured shades of gold are combined with brown, beige and white tones. In front of Mert and Marcus’s camera, Lily Collins slips into the role of a Parisian who simply oozes joie de vivre – and has the Cushion Highlighter as a gilt trinket in her handbag: guaranteeing your skin has just the right glow while you are on the go.
Above all else, the holiday look by Yves Saint Laurent Beauté brings a sense of fun to glamour, explains creative director Lloyd Simmonds, “putting on your make-up itself should add to the party atmosphere.” And that means choosing matching, festive colours, too. Like silver and gold, as well as pink and plum shades, and lipstick in nude or dramatic red. And if your day is likely to turn into night? “Quite simple,” says Simmonds: “glam up your natural daytime look in nude and beige tones with a gold nuance on your upper eyelids and brow bones, then draw on some eyeliner in prune and add a touch of highlighter to your cheeks!”
