Daniel Lee: Bottega Veneta’s New Creative Director
The British designer Daniel Lee has some big shoes to fill: Tomas Maier was the head of design at Bottega Veneta for 17 years, and now the 32-year-old Brit is taking the reins as an up-and-coming talent, as it were.
A graduate of the acclaimed Central St. Martins elite training facility, Lee was previously employed at Céline for six years, most recently as head of the ready-to-wear collection. He has also worked for Maison Margiela, Donna Karan and Balenciaga. Interestingly, not a lot is known about the designer – he has always stayed out of the spotlight until now.
New perspective and modernity
“I look forward to evolving what has gone before, while contributing a new perspective and modernity,” he explains in a press release. He will have to prove himself in his first show in September. For which he will certainly be needing his passion for materials.
His predecessor Tomas Maier established Bottega Veneta as a brand that is known for understated luxury.
