In recent years, a successful fashion industry has established itself in Austria – from internationally renowned young designers to talented fashion students. They all share one aim: to take the fashion capitals by storm.
Awareness & Consciousness Styrian-born designer Christiane Gruber has been creating fashion from high-quality jersey materials for her label Awareness & Consciousness since 2005. She chose her brand’s name carefully: it pretty much sums up her own attitude to life. She ties, dyes and bleaches every item by hand. www.awarenessandconsciousness.com DMMJK Markus Binder and Emil Maria Beindl are the creative minds behind the Viennese label DMMJK, which was founded in 2013. Their very first collection won several awards – including the Evoque Next Gen Award and the INDIE Magazine Award. Their concept revolves around capturing everyday impressions and experiences and then translating them into contemporary fashion designs. www.dmmjk.com Elfenkleid The two designers Annette Prechtl and Sandra Thaler create modern interpretations of wedding dresses and evening gowns. In addition to their shop on Vienna’s Margaretenstrasse, they also showcase their collections in Munich. Their credo: sensuality and timeless elegance, achieved with unique cuts and high-quality materials. www.elfenkleid.com Femme Maison Designing luxury fashion for modern women. That is the task that Franziska Fürpass-Kermani and Sia Ali-Pour-Kermani set themselves when they founded Femme Maison in 2009. Their designs are characterized by minimalism and understatement. And by their close collaborations with regional manufacturers. femme-maison.com GON GON is the hobby of Christina Steiner, who graduated in fashion at the University of Applied Arts Vienna in 2009.
