Spring/Summer ’17 Collection at a Glance
The collections by Veronica Etro are reliably remarkable. She is someone who never tries to kowtow to contemporary coolness. Instead, she prefers to find her own approach to the label’s legacy as well as to its customers’ expectations. In ever-new ways, she runs through the brand’s patterns and lines, tirelessly creating new pieces from its ethnological treasure troves from the furthest corners of the earth. This time around, she found inspiration in the Middle East and North Africa for kaftans, capes and pompoms. An explosion of colour. Contrasted with a touch of art deco, providing lines and patterns in black and white.
Large-format, wrought silver jewellery, eye-catching silver rings and bangles, familiar from Middle Eastern bazaars.
The floor-length kaftan-esque summer coat, combined with three different black-and-white patterns. On top: a hat, with the same stripes as the wrap-around blouse. Equally suited to the desert and the city.
