Pre-Fall: Sneak preview of this autumn’s trends
Technically speaking, summer hasn’t even started yet, but in the world of fashion it’s already time for the pre-fall collections. This pre-season collection spans the period between the summer and winter collections, meaning that it gives us an insight into the trends that await us when the leaves start changing colour.
Marlene Dietrich made wide-legged pleat-front trousers socially acceptable. And now wide-cut 7/8 culottes are obligatory in the bon ton. Emporio Armani and Louis Vuitton show us how it’s done.
Sunny colours continue, though now they’re a bit more muted. Shades of orange and yellow set the tone at Bottega Veneta, or feature as nuances – boots or button plackets – at Louis Vuitton.
Longing for leather
Leather accessories remain a must-have. Whether in the shape of a wide belt as at Alexander McQueen or as a cap or jacket at Prada.
Sea of flowers
Floral patterns are never out of season. Wear them in spring with pink cherry blossoms, or somewhat more restrained for the pre-fall collection. There are beautiful versions at Valentino and Alexander McQueen.
