Nature in a Bottle

22.03.2017

The scents of this spring spirit us away to the Dolomites of northern Italy, to the legendary gardens of Suzhou and to the metropolitan stomping ground of chic wild women.

Miu Miu
Actor Stacy Martin (who debuted in Lars von Triers’ Nymphomaniac in 2013) modelled for star photographer Steven Meisel for the L’Eau Bleu campaign. At Miu Miu this year, spring once again comes in an iconic blue matelassé flacon, though light is now refracted in the transparent faceted glass. In it: delicate lily-of-the-valley scent with earthy notes.

Armani Privé
A limited special edition, the mother-of-pearl-coloured Armani Pivoine Suzhou shimmers in this transparent flacon. It is inspired by the fragrances of the legendary gardens of the 2,500-year-old Chinese city of Suzhou, whose numerous canals have also earned it the title “Venice of the East”. With mandarin, pink pepper and raspberry essences as its top notes and the scent of peony and cinnamon rose as its middle notes, rounded off with musk and patchouli as its base notes.

Saint Laurent
The cult perfume Black Opium is now back as a limited Wild Edition. It is aimed at the untameable essence of city women. Coffee, jasmine, orange blossom and vanilla are combined with the woody notes of cedar and patchouli.

Master perfumer Louise Turner transports us into paradise with the third fragrance from the Paradiso line, which was launched two years ago. Paradiso Assoluto attempts to capture the scent of the Garden of Eden. Which smells of wild jasmine and red lilies, of pink pepper and sweet Chinese wisteria, of sandalwood and vanilla. Her creation is poured into a flacon whose form imitates the shape of a cut diamond.

For men

Bottega Veneta
Hay, fir cones and pine needles fill the air around the Dolomites in Venetia. Tomas Maier had a stronger interpretation developed of this male fragrance that was launched four years ago. With cedar notes, cardamom, pimento, fir balsam and tonka bean. Photographer Axel Lindahl is the man behind the advertising campaign.

Etro
Things will always come up roses in the end – even for men. ManRose is intended to separate the gentlemen from the overgrown boys, much like the famous flower in one’s buttonhole. Turkish rose is rounded off with a breeze of lemon, bergamot and strikingly pungent Szechuan pepper.
