The Great Coat Guide

24.10.2017

When the temperatures start to drop, it’s important to wrap up warm. And thankfully, the days when trends and temperatures were completely unrelated are long gone. In these fashionable coats and jackets by the big brands, we will be well prepared to brave the cold this winter.

Fluffy
(Fake) fur is everywhere this season, especially on collars and sleeves. The leather coat at Alexander McQueen has eye-catching fluffy red embellishments, while Emporio Armani strikes back with white fur accents on an elegant black coat and Miu Miu goes for a cuddly and colourful approach with yellow and orange.

Smooth
Things would grind to a halt this season without leather. Louis Vuitton’s autumn/winter collection features a shiny brown leather coat, while Alexander McQueen is banking on black leather – with highlights in red, white and blue.

Checkmate
Checks are versatile, capable of being both casual and elegant. Bottega Veneta has opted for an ombré pattern in autumnal shades, while Emporio Armani has gone for classic black and white and Prada has jazzed up traditional tweed-esque check with a big fur trim.

Going down a bomb
You’re in for a treat this year if you feel the cold. Go to Brunello Cuccinello and Saint Laurent for bulky bombers and oversized down jackets. And at Etro you’ll find similar styles in technicolour patterns.

Classic
The trench and the parka are of course permanent features of every winter. Brunello Cuccinello and Saint Laurent have focused on the cool parka, whereas Valentino is showcasing an embroidered trench
