Since the first weekend of September, Vienna’s first district now has a new “Central Park”: decorated with plants and trees, the green turf was rolled out for two days in the Seitzergasse in the Goldenes Quartier – it was already the second time that Picnic in the City took place. Hundreds of guests did precisely what they would do in New York’s Central Park: lie in the grass, daydream, listen to the live acts, eat, drink, have a bit of a snooze, spend a few happy hours with good friends and family.
Two days of sunshine
The conditions were perfect in the Seitzergasse: two days of sunshine and over 150 blankets and cushions on this pop-up picnic site attracted numerous guests. They could bring their own picnic baskets with them or buy them ready-made at partner stores such as Julius Meinl am Graben, Fabios, Café Am Hof, Aida or Schwarzes Kameel. Background music was provided by the live acts ANgel Tarpov (cello), Lukas Krenn (guitar) and Emily Kolbert (vocals) as well as Kathy Fields (ukulele with vocals). Drinks were served at the Meinl pop-up bar in the Tuchlaubenhof and the Veuve Clicquot truck. And DJs hosted by 98.3 Superfly laid down some relaxed beats. New this time: a painting corner for children by Plastic House and SchleckDruff, the hip cocktail ice lollies from Berlin. Click here for more news, photos and videos from Picnic in the City.
These great days in the Goldenes Quartier are not over yet: on 7th September there is VOGUE Fashion’s Night Out – also happening for the second time. With fashion shows on the Golden Catwalk by Pomellato, Lena Hoschek and other Viennese fashion designers. Kick-off is at 6:45 p.m.
